A brother can be difficult
A blessing and a curse
But livin' life without one
Is something far worse
Together in fraternity
A sentence set for life
Laced with petty rivalries
And ready for a fight
When nothing's ever left unsaid
The battle lines are drawn
Promises are broken
Attack again at dawn
Weapons drawn and ready
And who will fire first
Hands strong and steady
Hit exactly where it hurts
But you never leave a love so rare
You never leave a love so long
Remember that the life we share
Is nothing but a song
So you put on a happy face
For everybody new
But the closest to your heart
So rarely get the best of you
A moment's contradiction
And the bickering's begun
Daughters after mothers
And fathers on their sons
But you never leave a love so rare
You never leave a love so long
Remember that the life we share
Remember that the life we share
Is nothing but a song
But you never leave a love so rare
You never leave a love so long
Remember that the life we share
Remember that the life we share
Remember that the life we share
Is nothing but a song

We were poor
But I was satisfied
And I thought that you were, too
You were pure
And I was terrified
I wasn't good enough for you
When they sailed
Into the harbour
I could see it in your eyes
I knew
That you were dreaming
Of leaving me behind
You say "America is beautiful"
And I sure hope you're right
If I could see you across the water
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
When I met
That Yankee sailor
He stood tall and shook my hand
He took pleasure
In the moment
In the measure of a man
Then he turned
And left me standing
And he asked you out to dance
But when you met
That Yankee sailor
I knew I didn't stand a chance
You say "America is beautiful"
And I sure hope you're right
If I could see you across the water
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
Beautiful tonight
We were poor
But I was satisfied
And I thought that you were, too
You were pure
And I was terrified
I wasn't good enough for you
You say "America is beautiful"
And I sure hope you're right
If I could see you across the water
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"
I'd say "America is beautiful tonight"

A girl upon the shore did ask a favour of the sea;
"Return my blue eyed sailor boy safely back to me.
Forgive me if I ask too much, I will not ask for more,
but I shall weep until he sleeps safe upon the shore."
As though the sea did hear her plea, a vision did appear,
the drifting tip of some wrecked ship came floating ever near.
A figure there did cling to it, approaching more and more,
as if to ride on some strange tide, safe upon the shore.
So give a sailor not your heart
lest sorrow you do seek;
let true love not be torn apart
by favours from the sea.
My love, she cried as she a spied the figure on the spar,
his clean white shirt was drenched and torn, he must have floated far.
She thought with bliss how she would kiss the lips she did adore,
and oh, how sweet to see his feet safe upon the shore.
So give a sailor not your heart
lest sorrow you do seek;
let true love not be torn apart
by favours from the sea.
As she drew near, she felt the fear that something was astray.
His mouth was slack and his blue eyes stared blindly at the day.
And in a daze, she turned her gaze from the corpse the driftwood bore,
and the cold cold sea pushed ruthlessly, safe upon the shore.
So give a sailor not your heart
lest sorrow you do seek;
let true love not be torn apart
by favours from the sea.
Now fishermen, they cast their nets like miners pan for gold.
And sailors push off from the docks and pray the gales will hold.
The sea just sits silently, but sometimes, she does more.
And someone weeps as her love sleeps safe upon the shore.

Slowly came these words to me
Simple and plain and true
Shelter me when winter winds blow
Only your arms will do
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
Where it all began
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
I'd do it all again
Pardon me, if i may be
So foolish that all i see
You and me a melody
Fitting so beautifully
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
Where it all began
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
I'd do it all again
Spring has come, summer is gone
The sky has turned to gray
Close your eyes memories
Will carry us away
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
Where it all began
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
I'd do it all again
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
Where it all began
Follow me, follow me, follow me back
I'd do it all again
